Dinner Soup

A change in the normal routine … Soup for Dinner …

Sweet Potatoes peeled and ready to be slow cooked.

Fresh diced Garlic Cloves …

Fresh Garlic sauteed in real butter and Olive Oil …

The cooked Garlic and Butter mixture is added to the boiled Sweet Potatoes along with Sea Salt, Cinnamon Sugar, two packages Sweet & Low and a couple of slices of Red Onion. Six cups of water had been brought to a boil, then the heat was turned off to let the Sweet Potatoes rest for twenty minutes in the hot water. The Sweet Potatoes were then slow cooked until they were tender.

The Soup Maker. I know this is an Antique Blender but I chanced that it would work. I was sure that it wouldn’t be tired or overworked since it had been resting in a kitchen cabinet for over thirty some odd years.

It is best to load the Sweet Potatoes and fluid only to a halfway level in the mixer. According to what I have seen on television, halfway keeps the mixture from erupting out the top of the device, making a mess or semi-seriously burning anyone standing close by. I had to guess at the blender settings since I hadn’t used one before and the choices didn’t match the new machines.

The six cup of water recipe makes for two luxurious pours. Unfortunately, the second mixer bach had a loose top and the overflow burned the fire out of my fingers and made a mess to clean up.

A nice grilled cheese sandwich made with real butter is added to the menu.

Plated with chopped Green Onion garnish …

Thick an Rich, the Sweet Potato soup made for an interesting change from the every day lunch routine …

I was told by my grandfather that if you are destined to hang you'll never drown. I have never been afraid of water . . .
