The Old Guy … It’s Laundry Day …

It’s laundry day. Yep, wasn’t really ready for it, but sometimes it’s necessary. Thankfully, the weather is cooperating and everything could be dried outside by way of a rotating clothes line.

Outside drying would supposedly make the wet cotton type bedroom goods smell fresh and Spring clean. Just what every Old Guy widower wishes to achieve on a fine Spring day.

Today’s wash of bed linens, which to the uninformed, is quite a bit more of a chore than washing all the small normal stuff such as shirts, pants and towels and or including unmentionables. Sheets, and the likes are heavy items to carry around and not drop on the basement floor, steps or in the grass.
With the cats watching my every move from the back door, laundry day turned out pretty good. Even by my lonesome, I didn’t get hardly any grass clippings on the sheets, pillow covers or bedspread. And … nothing had to be re-washed. What made me smile was that I had twenty-four clothes pins and used only twenty-three.

ps. Later that evening I was stretched out on the couch and noticed bright flashes of light coming through the blinds accompanied with bold claps of thunder. The cats were nowhere in sight and when observing outside the front door … it was seriously raining to beat-the- band. It was then I realized I had forgotten to bring in the wash. Fortunately by the morning, all the green-yellow pine tree pollen was washed off the linens. Double rinse and double sun dried made it all smell so much better.

I was told by my grandfather that if you are destined to hang you'll never drown. I have never been afraid of water . . .

    • Thank you Ms Shelley. Old Guys work laundry many different ways. Thankfully, it is not an exact science and up to a point … a somewhat forgiving one. Now that I have two new eyes, I can see that I have cleaning, cleaning, and cleaning in my future. g
