  3. Hi, I have nominated you for The Creative Blogger Award ! I bet you are quivering in excitement… or perhaps you might be hitting your head against a wall repeating the phrase “Not another award, not another award!” You don’t have to accept this award, but I would love for you to pop over to my blog and come celebrate! There will be imaginary champagne, disco balls and a drumming cat! What more could one want? Hehe.

    • I have enjoyed reading your posts and look forward to enjoying many, many more. Yeah … crossing the bridge … I get dizzy being as tall as I am. There’s just no looking down in that type of situation. Hope you like my photographs. I haven’t written much since my Sweetheart passed away. But, later this year I hope to be back with a new stride and a new direction. Peace be with you today.

    • Thank you so much Mr B … I’ll try to put up more stuff you will enjoy. If you don’t mind, which series do you like. I am doing three … the birds, russell county and columns?

      • I definitely enjoy the Russell County series most of all. If you have the time and you don’t mind my saying so, pop on by my blog and let me know if any of my recent stuff catches your eye.

    • You are welcome. You live in a wonderful place that should support your poetry and photography. I have a good friend that lives in Seattle and a friend in England that has family in Vancouver.

    • Thank you Ms Shirley. We did leave here for a 16 year job in Fredericksburg, Virginia … so I am well versed in Richmond. We were there (right down the street) when the Washington Sniper shot the lady in the parking lot of the hobby/flower store. I’ve been back home for eight years. You’re writing really made me think way back in the memories. I’ll have to address that this Winter while I get snowed in for weeks on end. Thanks for the inspiration. Since my Sweetheart passed, I’ve been rather rudderless in my writing,

  12. I love your black and white photos – they seem more realistic than color – sorry to hear that your sweetheart passed away – I found that an artistic interest helps to deal with this new situation – look forward to photos coming from you

    • Thank you for your kind and generous comment. I try to put up a color and a B&W photo every week and mix in an article here and there. I’ve had a long dry writing spell since my wife of 29 years passed away. Just started to working on some things. I have two more photo books to finish but had saved them for a harsh Winter when I am cold and snowed inside. So far it’s all mild and I don’t like to work on the books and waste such wonderfully unseasonably days. g

  14. It is tough during the holidays especially when you lose your constant companion.
I hope 2018 is much happier for you. I’m hoping the same for my family.

    • Thank you for your kind and generous comments. It is a quiet Christmas Eve; not even the mice are about. I haven’t heard a one of them. The morning was spent at church. I had a baptism to shoot (I am the unofficial Church Photographer). I did get a street portrait done for my series. It was of a friend and came out quite nicely. Tomorrow will be quiet also. I do not like to intrude on others festivities. keep safe. you can always contact me at Geezer94@gmail.com

  17. Sir John,
Just looking through your photos … they moved me. There’s one of a car pulling out onto a street that is in some ways so (to use an overworked word) iconic … so nostalgic and lovely. Many of your photos have a particularly empathetic point of view, at least that’s what I sense looking at them. I liked the cat photos a lot, the photos of the old house/barn in the woods, the photo of the autumn trees around the red house, the perspective in the river photo …

I also wrote our Quaint about hers: so many photos I’ve seen leave me cold … yours and hers don’t.

  18. Ms Ellen, now that I have to learn to live with heart damage and diabetic neuroaphty, I will be able to take more photographs making adjustments as required. I am about to start another series project that may prove interesting but I do have a poetry book to finish and I need additional illustrations for that. Thank you for your kind and generous comment. Looking forward to talking at you. Gmail address still works. g

  19. We share, alas, heart damage and neuropathy …the latter for me is from a drug. Amazing what one can live with. But right now, I have to face a tough decision about re-operating on the shrinking porcine replacement valve or reconciling myself to my heart giving out. In between bouts of terror about how fast it seems to be happening, I’m researching . Fear will pass … it always does.
